“Protect Your Online Identity” Speech Contest

Thank you for your participation and support. The Award Ceremony was held on 22 September 2023.


The “Protect Your Online Identity” Speech Contest (the Contest) jointly organised by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, the Hong Kong Police Force and the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre aims to remind the general public to safeguard their digital identities when using the Internet, and to protect personal and sensitive information to prevent exploitation by fraudsters, through relaxing and witty speeches.

Objective

Poster of “Protect Your Online Identity” Speech Contest

The Contest aims to remind the general public to safeguard their digital identities when using the Internet, and to protect personal and sensitive information to prevent exploitation by fraudsters, through relaxing and witty speeches.

Eligibility

The Contest consists of Open, Secondary School and Primary School categories. Each Participant can enrol as individuals to only one of the categories and should submit only one video. Participants shall agree and abide by all the rules and regulations of the Contest.

  • Open Category - Hong Kong residents
  • Secondary School Category - Secondary school students in Hong Kong
  • Primary School Category - Primary school students in Hong Kong

Most Supportive School Awards - To promote the awareness of information security among schools, teachers and students, as well as to commend the active participation of schools, the “Most Supportive School Awards” will be presented to the Champion, 1st and 2nd Runner-ups of each of the Secondary School and Primary School categories. The top three schools with the highest student participation will receive a trophy.

Panel of Judges

The Panel of Judges comprised representatives of Organisers, Co-organiser and Supporting Organisations. They will select the winners according to the following judging criteria.


Judging Criteria

  • 50% Content and Rendition - Serving to promote the theme of safeguarding digital identity, personal and sensitive information when using the Internet
  • 30% Style - Personal presentation style
  • 20% Technique - Techniques and overall quality of delivering the speech


Announcement of Results

The results decided by the Panel of Judges will be announced on this website. Winners will be notified individually. Participants not winning any award will not be notified individually.


Award Presentation Ceremony

An award presentation ceremony will be held at the public seminar of “Build a Secure Cyberspace” Campaign in September 2023. Details will be announced in due course.

  1. Participants are required to self-record a video of a speech on the topic of “Protect Your Online Identity”. The specifications of the recorded video are as follows:
    1. Participants shall deliver the speech in Cantonese (may supplement terminology in English)
    2. The length of speech for different categories are:
      Category Length of Speech
      Open 3-4 minutes
      Secondary School 2-3 minutes
      Primary School 1-2 minutes
    3. The video resolution must be 1080p
    4. No editing, enhancement or post-production on the video
    5. The video must clearly show the face to the waist of the participant
    6. Participants may use props to assist their presentations
  2. Participants are required to complete the application form on or before 15 July 2023, specifying the speech title in Chinese (up to 15 words), introduction within 100 words, and upload the video at the same time.
  3. Participants may refer to the following outline to record the video of speech in an amusing and entertaining way:
    • Introduction
      • A short opening that brings out the topic of the speech
    • The risks of neglecting digital identity security, such as:
      • identity theft
      • personal information leakage
      • scam
    • Tips for protecting your digital identity, such as:
      • password management
      • beware of phishing attacks
      • personal privacy protection
    • Conclusion
      • Reiterate the importance of protecting digital identity
  4. The champion of each category will be invited to give a speech at the public seminar of “Build a Secure Cyberspace” Campaign in September 2023.
  5. Except for correction of personal information, changes to all submitted information and the uploaded video will not be accepted.

Terms and Conditions iconTerms and Conditions

  1. Each Participant can enrol to only one of the categories and should submit only one video. Multiple submissions will render a Participant’s enrolment being disqualified.
  2. All videos must meet the requirements specified in the Guidelines to Participants above.
  3. The content of speeches must not contain any foul language, violent, discrimination, obscene, insulting, illegal or indecent content.
  4. The content of speeches must be original and must not be copied from others.
  5. Names, products or services of any companies or entities or any third-party trademarks, logos shall not be contained or referred to in all content of speeches. The content of speeches shall not be used for the promotion of any brands, products or services.
  6. Participants must guarantee that their videos or content of speeches have never been openly shown in any form, and shall not infringe any copyrights and intellectual property rights. If the videos or content of speeches had entered other competitions, the Participants shall ensure that the copyrights of the videos do not belong to any individuals/parties/organisations. The Participants shall be fully liable for any disputes over the copyrights of the videos and speech content. The Organisers and Co-organisers accept no responsibility for such disputes.
  7. The Organisers have the right not to accept any videos or content of speeches that is improper or not aligning with the theme and specifications of the Contest. If there are doubts that the videos or content of speeches have infringed the intellectual property rights of others, the Organisers have the right to disqualify them from entering or winning the Contest.
  8. The copyrights of all submitted videos are vested solely in the Organisers. Participants shall agree that the Organisers and Co-organisers may at any time display, reprint, reproduce, use or modify the videos for any purposes. The Organisers and Co-organisers are not required to notify the Participants or pay them any fees.
  9. Participants shall agree and accept the publishing of the videos in any forms and the public display of their videos, and the production of these videos into any items by the Organisers and Co-organisers, e.g. the public display or publishing of the videos in public exhibitions, video sharing platforms, websites, social networking sites, mobile applications and publications of the Organisers and Co-organisers, the production of these videos into any items, such as souvenirs and promotional materials, etc.
  10. The Organisers reserve the right to use the whole or part of the videos. The Participants shall not raise objection.
  11. The Organisers reserve the right to substitute any prize with another prize at any time without prior notice.
  12. Participants should participate in publicity events related to the Contest upon invitation of the Organisers.
  13. The results decided by the Panel of Judges shall be final. Participants shall abide by the decisions of the Panel of Judges and shall not raise objection to the results.
  14. Participants shall agree and abide by the Terms and Conditions of the Contest including those specified in this document, the application form and the relevant website for the Contest.
  15. All persons involved in the organisation and implementation of the Contest (including but not limited to members of the organising committee, Panel of Judges) and their immediate family members are not eligible for joining the Contest.
  16. Participants have the right of access and correction with respect to their personal data as stipulated in Sections 18 and 22 and Principle 6 of Schedule 1 of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, and have the right to obtain a copy of their personal data provided in the application form.
  17. Participants who wish to access or correct personal data specified in the application form, or get information of the related policies, practices and the kinds of data held should send their written requests to the following address:

  18. Personal data provided by the Participants will be destroyed within 12 months after the Contest, except the names of Participants and schools which will be published according to the Terms and Conditions of the Contest.
  19. The Organisers reserve the right to interpret and revise all the Terms and Conditions of the Contest and all other Terms and Conditions set out in the application form. Participants shall not raise objection thereto.

  20. If there is any inconsistency or ambiguity between the English version and the Chinese version of the Terms and Conditions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
